I know that if I were smart I would try to create an interesting journal where I would put in entries that were all light, flippant and
amusing.

I’m not very smart.

Right now I’m very very bitter. All I want to do is be on the air. I’m not looking to make radio my main source of income or to make a real living at it. I just want to have a place where I can sit behind a microphone and help people with their computer problems and to not loose money on it. Now, I could actually do something similar from home on the Internet. Have the Telco drop in two phone lines, get an 888 number and have someone that will screen calls before we put them on to a speakerphone with a micrphone above it. Very inexpensive. The 888 number and the telephone lines cost money though. Anything that costs money means we loose money without having someone to sell advertising too. I don’t think anyone wants to pay for advertising on Internet Radio. Also, if I start selling advertising I loose the MP3 stream without having to pay for it. Nothing but loose/loose situation, one after the other.

Now, a lot of the radio industry seems to be in the practice of pay for play. This means that you pay them to be on their airwaves and you are able to sell some ad space and that is how you make your money. This isn’t bad for someone that has the money to put down or advertisers already behind them because they can then just pay the fee and do what they want. Me? I can’t do it. This almost feels too much like paying for infomercial space rather then being in radio. Mind you I would do it in a heart beat if there was a way it wasn’t going to cost me money. If I had advertisers ahead of time so that way I would at least break even I’d sign a contract right now. Just give me a job to have during the week and a time slot to broadcast on the weekends and I’d be in heaven.

Heaven is a long way away…

Feh.

Did I mention I’ve also got a head cold?
