To this day I don’t understand why I don’t excercise the same practices and judegements in my personal life that I do in my professional life. What do I mean? Let me tell you.
If I were working for a company setting up, say, an audio encoding machine I would do the following things if I either implemented or went to install the machine: 1) Make sure it works under all extremes, 2) Simulate 3 test runs and 3) Check on last damn time that everything works.
Over the weekend I was fooling around with my Real Audio encoding machine. As a matter of fact I did a clean install of Win2K. I installed all the software I needed to run the machine, put in the settings and blindly forgot the hell of doing the whole thing. What happens when I fire up the machine today? Things are distorted to hell and I feel like an absolute jackass.
Why do I do this to myself time and time again? Stupidity.
