Today was another really good workout with the EA Sports Active. This “game” uses a lot of the same types of fitness concept that our lunctime workout trainer used. It engages the leg muscles a lot to get greater benefit and calorie burning out of the shorter workout time.
I do, however, have to come to grips with the fact that my left knee is something that I am probably going to have a profesional look at. Three weeks of pain isn’t normal. Granted it has subsided, and with the exercise actually seems to be doing better, but don’t want to gamble with it since I plan on walking for quite a few years to come.
I was also really impressed with the Lunge Jumps and Squat Jumps as an excercise. They hurt like hell but man does it get the heart pumping. I’m still a bit bowled over when a lot of leg exercises occur one after the other but hopefully by the end I will be shrugging these off.
Tomorrow is another rest day which means smarter choices food choices, which I try to have as my mantra every day. I’m not trying to diet, I’m trying to consisently eat a better diet. I’ve been trying to eliminate cheese and cut out unnecessary fats and sugars. This weekend was somewhat of a fail in that area with the consumption of cake and frozen yogurt. Not going to beat myself up over it though. Just take each day as a new day.
I’m really dying for some weight loss (or more to the point inches loss) as I’ve been maintaining for a while and want to continue to get the right areas smaller.
I think writing about keeping up with this 30 day challenge is really helping me to stick with it. Each day I write here means I’m more likely to continue to do something right tomorrow. Ever forward!

Once again a real good workout this morning. The day off was nice but I was eager to get out of bed (when I finally resigned myself to the fact that I wasn’t going to get to go back to sleep) and do the Day 4 workout.
I do have to say this, going from doing side lunges to side jumps to the inline skating game (which is pretty much holding a squat for a long hold and then jumping) is murder on the legs. Not sure if this was structured specifically this way but I would have liked at least a one exercise break in the legs because WOW was that intense.
Today was the first time I actually had an audience during the workout. Emily tried to join in and Denise teased a little but also made me feel good about what I was doing (especially when after seeing the exercises she said she should give it a try).
I’m up way too darn late tonight after having coffee far too late. Had some cake too, which doesn’t help the cause at all but sure tasted good.
I anticipate the Day 5 workout coming very late in the morning. Too bad the dogs will wake me between 7:00 and 8:00 AM.

Today was a rest day and I didn’t do any type of actual exercise. I was up and moving a bit more than I usually am on a weekday since I took a floating holiday from work to accomplish some things that needed tending too.
Most of my muscles are sore in that good kind of way, a feeling I’ve been missing for a little while. Legs are probably worse than they should be since I decided to take a walk up the ol’ Filbert Stairs yesterday on top of already having done my Day 2 workout. Feeling pretty good about myself today. Looking forward to seeing what is in store for me with tomorrow’s workout.

OK, it’s official, exercise can be fun and actually accomplish something.
Today’s workout was less intense on the legs and more focused on upper body strength. There was some legs in there to get the blood pumping (and since they are one of the largest muscle groups they definitely do that and then some). Not sure how beneficial the tennis game is but it’s a nice distraction in between the other exercises.
Looks like the game is structured to be two days on one day off as tomorrow is labeled as a rest day. Wow, two days on and I already get a day off? Too bad real work isn’t like this as well.
Just noticed that there is a nutrition and info area of the journal that I haven’t filled out. The questions are good and if you answer them honestly they will help you make better decisions during your day. If you get this than I strongly recommend you stay honest.

OK, Active is not just a clever name…
Had my first workout this morning with my Active coach. Should have woken up sooner because I didn’t really have the time that I sacrificed in the first time set up. This can be forgiven however with how good of a workout I had.
Yes, the workout was good. I can already tell that there are parts of my body that are going to be hurting from this workout. The addition of the resistance band was good and added some much needed intensity to certain movements (however I will need a stronger band). This game definitely had me working up a sweat and they definitely designed it right.
One item of note: If you read this EA Sports you might want to consider working the tutorial video into the first few moments of the workout itself. Having to wait for the video play can be kind of frustrating the first time when you are eager to get on to the next exercise (or short on time like I was).
I’m really liking this.
